7082 - Mainframe Billing Systems Integration Engineer (Must reside in Sacramento, CA to be considered)

Job Description:

Seeking a highly experienced technical consultant to provide application support, enhancement, maintenance, and knowledge transfer for a large-scale, custom-built internal billing system. The system utilizes a multi-tier architecture and integrates legacy mainframe platforms with modern .NET and SQL Server-based technologies. This is a senior-level technical role requiring deep hands-on experience with billing systems, chargeback tools, and data processing in complex IT environments.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and enhance billing system codebase (.NET, SAS, SQL Server)


• Perform ETL processing and validation on high-volume billing data


• Manage system reports (SSRS), macros, and chargeback calculations


• Support system migrations and upgrades as needed


• Document architecture, processes, and training materials


• Transfer knowledge to internal staff through walkthroughs and recordings


• Ensure compliance with scheduling, security, and data handling procedures

Minimum Requirements (Must Have All):

• 7+ years of experience with IBM Tivoli Usage and Accounting Manager (TUAM) in a large-scale IT environment


• 15+ years of experience programming in SAS, including PROC SQL


• 10+ years of experience with z/OS or OS/390 mainframe operating systems


• 15+ years of experience managing SMF data using SMFUTIL


• 15+ years supporting cost recovery or chargeback billing systems, such as TUAM, MICS, or similar


• 15+ years working with billing data collection systems


• 5+ years of experience with Excel Macros, VBA, and VBScript


• 15+ years of experience with MXG and TDS/z


• 7+ years of experience developing in the .NET technology stack


• 5+ years working with Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services)


• 7+ years of SQL Server experience performing DBA tasks, including:




• Writing stored procedures and views


• Creating/modifying tables


• Linked servers


• SQL jobs, backup/restore


• SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)


• SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)




• 7+ years of experience using FTP and SFTP in both Windows Server and mainframe environments


• 7+ years of experience creating batch scripts and using Windows Task Scheduler


• Experience working in hybrid mainframe + modern architecture environments


• Proven ability to create and maintain technical documentation


• Experience performing system migrations, patching, and upgrades


• Strong communication skills, with ability to deliver knowledge transfer and staff training


• Familiarity with chargeback models, ETL workflows, and job scheduling


• Comfortable working collaboratively with functional and technical stakeholders


• Ability to manage multiple environments and adapt to complex system dependencies
