7069 - Senior Data Architect – Cloud Data Warehouse (Must currently reside in San Francisco to be considered)
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Architect to support a large-scale, cloud-based enterprise data warehouse initiative. This role is critical in designing scalable, secure, and high-performing data architecture to support analytics and reporting needs across a statewide organization. The ideal candidate excels in bridging business strategy with technical execution, translating complex business and research requirements into robust data solutions.

Lead the design and implementation of data architecture and pipelines in a cloud-based data warehouse environment.

Collaborate with business analysts, researchers, and stakeholders to define and document data requirements.

Present and defend technical architecture solutions to senior leadership, including CIO and data teams.

Design ETL/ELT workflows, database schemas, and automation pipelines using modern data tools.

Serve as a liaison between technical and business teams, facilitating alignment and resolving conflicts.

Contribute to and promote data governance practices and documentation standards.

Participate in strategic decision-making to ensure data infrastructure supports evolving business needs.

Produce monthly status reports summarizing progress and deliverables.

Extensive hands-on experience architecting and managing cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure).

Advanced expertise in data modeling, including dimensional modeling and normalization.

Proven experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines, ideally with Snowflake and Talend.

Strong ability to translate business/research needs into executable technical architecture.

Experience presenting technical solutions to senior executives.

Deep understanding of data governance, policy development, and documentation.

Experience creating analytics dashboards and visualizations (e.g., Power BI).

Familiarity with government operations, regulatory reporting, or judicial systems.

Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, SOC2, GDPR).

Background in user-centered design and stakeholder engagement.
